Addressing journalists in Dar es Salaam on Friday, Dar es Salaam Special Police zone Commander Simon Sirro said among the other five suspected criminals include two people who have been arrested for possessing a locally made rifle with one bullet.
Investigations on the 53 suspects was going on, calling upon parents to be responsible in bringing up their children instead of letting them becoming criminals. The rest of the suspects include three people including a DRC Congo national who was arrested in connection with the theft of two vehicles with registration numbers T917 DEL, a Toyota Carina and T705 DDR a Carina TI.
He pointed out that on July 13, this year at Sinza, Kangaruu, the police obtained information from Good Samaritans that two people had arrived at the area with a bag which was suspected to contain a weapon.
“The police arrived at the area and managed to arrest Gifti Gaiton Kimulika (18), a resident of Mbezi Beach who during interrogation named another suspect, Mbelwa Teonest Tumeibesi (27), a resident of Mbezi Makonde,” said Commader Sirro.
After interrogation, the suspect had admitted their intention to carry out a robbery. Meanwhile, an investigation was still going on. He, however, said that on July 12, this year, at Mburahati, Hashimu Issa (37), was hired by two people pretending to be passengers from Mbagala Zakheim to Mbagala Kibonde maji.
Upon arriving there, two other people got in the car making a total of four people and detained Issa then tied his hands and legs and abandoned him at Mburahati before making away with his car. The police after obtaining information tracked the Carina TI and managed to obtain it and arrested Mlomba Rubeen (28), a DRC Congo national at Tabata Liwiti.
The Toyota Carina was found with Imani Richard, a motorcycle driver and a resident of Tabata Segerea, who claimed it belonged to Mlomba Rubeen of Mbezi Kimara.
In another development, the police confiscated two flat screen TVs on June 12, this year, at Toangoma, Temeke which were left by two suspected criminals who ran away after being suspected by the police and decided to abandon the sets.
Commander Sirro called on people who have lost property to go to the police station and identify their belongings if by any chance the police had managed to attain them back.
